Arthur Smith is a musician and entertainer by occupation, thus is why the Arthur Smith Tournament will showcase a lineup of local Charleston musicians.
To give you some background, Arthur Smith wrote "Guitar Boogie" in 1945, sold 3 million copies, and it became Country music’s first number one instrumental and crossed over to top the rhythm & blues and pop charts as well.
Arthur’s original composition of "Dueling Banjos," featured in the film Deliverance, sold 8 million copies, won a Grammy and was selected as song of the year in 1973.
